Tank Truck and Rail Car Specialist Class
NorthWest HazMat, Inc. now presents a one week, dual purpose training class, with a twist! You will spend Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday morning in training on tank truck rollover response. Thursday and Friday is devoted to Rail Car Operation and Emergency Response.
Included in Tank Truck Response is:
- Tank Truck Design and Operation
- Safety Controls and Devises
- Response Considerations
- Vehicle Stabilization
- Grounding and Bonding
- Tank Drilling and Product Transfer
- Betts Valve Operation
- Spill Containment
- Recovery Operations
Emphasis is spent on the safe processes from initial on-site size up, to grounding and bonding, drilling, product transfers, to the vehicle recovery. Students will perform grounding and bonding until comfortable with the process. Wednesday morning includes a full response scenario from the roll over to the recovery. Both small and full size props are used to increase skill levels.
At noon Wednesday, all students are excused for the day. At that time you will have several events from which you can chose one. They are:
- River Raft Trip
- Guided River Fishing trip
- Rock Climbing Trip
- 18 Hole Golf Outing
On Thursday it’s back to work and you will now spend two days on Rail Car Response. This will include hands on field experience. Again both small and full size props are utilized.
Included in The Rail Car Session is:
- Railroad Operations and Safety
- Tank Design and Construction
- General Service Car Fittings and Valves
- Pressure Tank Car Fittings and Valves
- Application of the Chlorine “C” Kit
- Controlling Leaks
- Hazmat Incident Management
- Level A Response
Instructors include both experienced response personnel and vehicle system specialists.
It is recommended that all participants have prior hazmat technician training and experience with Level A PPE.
